I'll be curious to hear what the President has to say about Nasrallah's comments on how this battle with Israel was a "strategic victory". When I first heard the Hezbollah leader's comments I thought he was crazy. Then I thought about it for a second. Of course it was a victory! I can't believe I'm agreeing with a scumbag terrorist, but I am. The victory is two-fold.
First, I want to say the Israelis did win the physical military campaign, but Hezbollah is working to bring Lebanon onto it's side completely by helping to rebuild, thus obtaining their military services, whatever they may be. (Any help can be good help.) That is victory number one. Forget the fact that the Lebanese were foolish enough to allow these terrorists into their country and to use it as a base of operations to attack Israel, thus starting a battle with them right in their own back yard. If the Hezbollah stay to help the rebuilding process, they will surely win over the clueless Lebanese and will obtain whatever they want. It sounds like a conspiracy, but it will happen. I'm sure the Hezbollah can't wait for the UN (the Fairweather Terrorist Flunky Org., or FTFO) and the US to help train the Leb. armies.
The second victory involves the submission of Israel to the US/French agreement. Israel has backed off after the perfect opportunity to cripple one of the ,strongest terrorist branches. To defeat them, you must cripple them; you cannot completely destroy them. Now, Nasrallah and his buddies will maintain a foothold. They will build strength as the UN continues to "rebuild" Lebanon. Does the FTFO think this rebuilding will onlly benefit the Lebanese?! What stupidity!!!
We cannot take sissy steps to confront terrorism. Israel should not have backed down. They should have marched right on through until the Hezbollah was pushed out. The US needs to figure out which side it is on. The French and the UN do not have our best interests in mind, nor the world's. It is a victory for Nasrallah, and they will continue as long as we allow them to stay organized and their leaders to live.
